2. One Down

Niko always believed in one thing: if she decided, then it would happen; after all, she is the one who arranges pieces on the board. After all, even a wolf can come in sheep's clothing. While Nicolas doesn't care until someone dares to touch him or his sister physically or mentally. Currently, they stood in front of their maternal uncle, Lysander Flint, like soldiers that they were raised to be. Lysander smiled cruelly at his niece and nephew. Lysander had raised them since they were born but for different reasons. Nicolas and Niko are well aware of the fact.

"Good job, kids, the attack was successful, but we failed to kill him," said Lysander.

"Better luck next time," Niko offered with a smirk. Lysander rolled his eyes, knowing well how big a mouth she had, but he didn't mind since he was pleased with them. It was all just a part of a plan to let them go there to distract him. Next time Lysander is sure that he will get rid of Nathaniel King permanently. Nathaniel had been his enemy since they were young, and that rivalry had developed this far. They are both business competitors too.

Lysander didn't know yet that Niko did something she wasn't allowed to do.

"You should prepare; they will attack you once they find out," Niko pointed out. Lysander laughed amused, which Niko didn't like at all. She smiled at him dangerously.

"No one can touch me, Niko; after all, no one is as powerful as me," Lysander said with a grin. He loved challenges, especially the ones who think they can destroy him. Though Lysander is always steps ahead.

Niko scoffed. There are two things she hates most: first, getting challenged, and second, people who lick their egos like it's god.

"What if someone can touch you? " Niko asked with an edge visible in her tone. Nicolas rolled his eyes knowing well where his sister was going with the conversation. Lysander smirked.

"Not a chance my dear Niece, " He said confidently.

"Well then let's see, " Niko said with a challenging tone.

Lysander shrugged it off which was his biggest mistake, he didn't know yet. Niko smiled at her uncle with a plan already in her head. Nicolas rubbed his head annoyed sensing the evil thoughts in his twin sister's head.

Let the real game begin. Niko thought to herself.

It was late at night when people in Flint's residence were sleeping peacefully leaving two kids who were taking a stroll with little bottles in their hands and bags. Niko smiled at her twin brother who finished the last round around the mansion. Nicolas stared at the top at the office of Lysander and a cruel smirk formed on his lips. He had been waiting for this moment for years. Today his sister seemed to have made up her mind.

"This is going to be fun," said Niko cheerfully. And for once, Nicolas agreed, amused. Even though he is quite one, he loves chaos, especially the one that ruins people's lives and souls.

"Well then, let's start the show," Nicolas hands her a lighter.

Niko grinned and lit up the lighter, casually throwing it on the floor, which is covered in petroleum. Soon the fire started spreading all around the residence, and then there were screams and crying of people. But sadly there was no way out of the place since the fire had almost surrounded all around the residence. Niko smiled delightedly. Nicolas smirked, thinking of his uncle, who would die today. After a while, he glanced at his sister.

"I am coming back in a few minutes," Nicolas announced while walking towards the back of the residence. Niko let him go and leaned on the car, watching the flames burning everything. She had imagined this scene many times, but seeing it with her own eyes made her feel relaxed.

"He will be mad once he finds out, but it will be worth it," Niko whispered to herself. "In case he made it alive,"

Meanwhile, Nicolas walked to the back of the residence casually and opened the secret door. Once he was inside, he found a few guards trying to run but failing due to flames. Nicolas smiled and approached them. The guard's gaze lands on him, and they stiffen. They know him but not well. They glanced at each other before taking one step forward.

"Sir, you need to go out before you die, " One of them said.

"You can run from the back, it's not burning yet, " Nicolas said calmly. The guards look at him surprised. After what was done to Nicolas they didn't think he would help but now it didn't matter they were thankful. At this moment they want to live.

Soon they ran out with Nicolas strolling behind them like a devil in hellfire. Once the guards were at a distance Nicolas locked the door to make sure no one else survived. He put fire on the back of the residence. Nicolas approached guards who looked panicked and were trying to call help. It will cause trouble for us, Nicolas thought.

"Don't call anyone, it was Lysander who did this to kill you all, " Nicolas informed them calmly. The guards paused with wide eyes. They knew their boss could do it after all it wasn't the first time. They had seen it many times in the past.

"But why kill us, " A guard asked.

"Because the attack on Nathaniel King failed and he suspect that they saw some of your faces so he is getting rid of you in the case, " Nicolas lied blankly staring at the burning mansion. Guards believed him. They got on their knees and vowed.

"You saved our lives, so we will work under you. We are grateful," one of them said. Nicolas smirked as he achieved his goal.

Good, they will be useful. My tools. Nicolas thought

"You don't have to, but thank you, and I won't disappoint you. But first, run towards the forest and escape. There will be guards coming soon to kill the remaining people," Nicolas ordered them. It was a lie, but enough to not let anyone suspect and make sure they leave.

The guards quickly nodded, and determined, they quickly started running away. But one of them hesitated.

"Sir, what about you?" He asked.

"He won't kill me yet, so worry about your life," Nicolas replied.

The guards soon followed others after giving Nicolas a nod. Nicolas smiled and headed back to his sister, who was enjoying the scene. Even though they are twins, Nicolas sometimes can't understand his twin sister at all, just like right now. Not that he cares for other people, but he wonders which piece of pawn he is on her chessboard. Nicolas knows well how Niko uses people as her chess pieces and plays. Though he won't ask her aloud, at least not until the time is right. Niko smiled and kissed the cheek of her brother. They can't feel or show emotions; words are enough for them.

"Here, this is your gift for your birthday," Niko said to him.

"What, " Nicolas couldn't help but ask.

"Freedom brother. Your gift for fifteenth birthday, " Niko said with a smile. Nicolas sighed understanding her words.

"The best gift I received but I have nothing to give you, " Nicolas said tilting his head at her. He knows she won't mind but he felt bad.

"You are my gift, my dear brother. My other half is one I can trust blindly, so don't worry, you don't have to give me anything," Niko assured her brother, who is dissatisfied with himself.

Nicolas thought about her words and nodded. My sister sure has a way with words, Nicolas thought. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and gave her a gentle squeeze.

"Then I promise you I will protect you forever," he said.

"That you always do, dummy, but thanks," Niko said and snuggled to her brother's chest.

"So we are going to him now?"

"Yes, we will stay with him from now on."

"Don't trust him yet," Nicolas warned her.

"Don't worry. You know I am always a step ahead," Niko smirked.

Nicolas didn't have to argue with the fact. He knows well that she is smarter than most people, but he has to make sure she never fails. Her win is his win. Her life is his life, and her pain is his pain. They are one, and it will never change.

"One down," Niko whispered.

"He will know about it," Nicolas said, remembering a familiar person.

"Let him. Besides, he can't interfere with my business," Niko dismissed him calmly. Nicolas obeyed as he stared at a huge fire engulfing the residence. He is sure not many will be left alive.

Niko couldn't help but smirk, thinking, Let the devil know after all; he is an important pawn.
