In a week Niko and Nicolas got accustomed to their new life. They were happy that unlike their uncle their father didn't burden them with loads of work though it didn't stop Nicolas from working a little bit for his sister's safety. Niko got more relaxed and focused on her father while making sure everything was going according to her plan. For Nate, it was a new feeling to pass his days with mini versions of him. He liked the feeling of having kids around him. But still, he couldn't keep up with them especially his daughter who seemed to have a lot of energy. Today as usual they are sitting at the dining table eating together. Ronan had joined them too.

"Let me tell you a tale, " Niko said excitedly.

"Eat first Kiddo, " Nate said shaking his head.

"No, hear me out. It's interesting, " Niko pouted causing Nate to soften up. Ronan observed the scene silently. Nicolas ignored all of them only giving an occasional glance to his sister.

"Alright but then you will shut up and eat like a good kid, " Nate said sternly. Niko rolled her eyes but nodded.

"Once there were two monsters, one was named Nate and another was named Ro. They were good friends, " Niko started her tale. "Nate trusted him too much because he only had him, "

"Who told you a tale of monsters? Weren't you young for it? " Nate asked curiously.

"Don't ruin my story and listen closely, " Niko scolded Nate, which brought a smile to his face. No one dared to say anything to him but he would let it go after all she had become important to him within a few days.

"Nate became king but Ro wanted the throne so he pretended to be his friend and once he got a chance he backstabbed him, " Niko said and stabbed her food with a knife. Nate just shook his head at her story meanwhile Ronan just stared at her in disbelief.

"Kid shouldn't hear this kind of thing, " Ronan pointed out to which Nate agreed.

"I have more I can tell you all, " Niko said cheerfully. Nate shook his head as no so Niko pouted and ate her food.

"No one has a good taste here, " Niko said in disbelief.

"You are the only one crazy here, " Nicolas said rolling his eyes. Niko punches his shoulder while Nicolas glares at her. Nate smiled watching his two kids. Unlike her Nicolas didn't talk to him, it bothered him a little.

Maybe he needs time, Nate thought.

Then they silently proceeded to eat and once they were done Niko dragged Nate to play chess with her. It's not like he hated chess but his daughter seems to over-smart him always. After playing for two hours Niko wasn't satisfied while Nate was done. He didn't want to play more.

"Daddy, you can't just sacrifice everything. Especially king is weak so it's troublesome, " Niko scolded him.

"How else I am supposed to win? " Nate grumbles. "You are too good at this game, " He added defeated.

"Sacrificing doesn't do much good unless you can kill two birds with one stone. The best is to play smart and play ahead, " She told him with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Nate sighed but nodded. He wondered where she learned things from. Ronan entered the room and greeted them quickly.

"Nate, there seems to be a problem at the factory, " Ronan informed. Niko instantly grabs Nate's arm causing him to look at her.

"Daddy, play with me, " She pouted. Nate couldn't resist it but sighed while caressing her head.

"We can play once I get back. I need to go for now, " said Nate standing up and following Ronan out.

Niko shakes her head in disbelief. "Daddy, you need to learn a lesson, " She whispered darkly.

Nate made his way to one of his factories. He found cars and men outside while the factory looked messed up. His gaze lands on a familiar face wearing glasses who is sitting comfortably on a chair with his legs crossed. Raziel Stones. One of his enemies. He is young but Raziel has caused him a lot of trouble over the last few years.

"What the hell are you doing here? " Nate demands. Raziel smirked seeing a familiar face.

"Taking fresh air, " Raziel said sarcastically.

"Here near the factory. You have weird hobbies, " Nate said causing Raziel to roll his eyes.

"You should be grateful until I am letting you live, " Raziel said with his voice turning serious.

Nate saw corner of his eyes a group of men armed. Ronan noticed it too and nodded at Nate indicating they had a backup.

"This is my property, " Nate said calmly.

"Tch look who is saying, " Raziel said and signaled his men. Soon enough two men dragged a bruised man and let him fall in front of Nate. Nate looked at him confused.

"Your men destroyed one of my property now who will pay for it you or him, " Raziel said his tone getting serious.

"That's not my men. You are mistaken, " Nate denied rather calmly. He didn't send anyone. Ronan narrows his eyes at the men.

"He admitted himself, " Raziel told him. Nate shook his head feeling a headache forming.

"He must have lied, " Nate pointed out.

"Sure but no sane person would lie under your name isn't it, "

Nate sighed but didn't deny it. Nate understands there is something else going on in this whole thing. His gaze hardened on Raziel.

"My men are surrounding the area, " Nate threatened.

"So is mine king, " Raziel rolled his eyes.

They glared at each other and came to a mutual understanding. Both turned away and soon sat in their car. Both of them drive away with their men following them.

Raziel smirked while sitting in his car.  Next time I will go directly for your head king.

Nate finally reached his home and made his way straight to his room. He has no energy left to continue the day. Once he entered his room he loosened his tie and removed his suit. After a while, his gaze lands on the wall of his room that he missed before. The walls of his room are covered in pink color. Nate glared at it and shouted for his men. His men came quickly and glanced at the room stunned.

"Who the hell did this? " Nate demands.

Niko who heard her dad came with a bright smile. Nate's gaze lands on her and he softens up. He remembered telling his daughter to play with her later but he forgot with his work. His daughter didn't look bothered though. Nicolas soon joined them standing near his sister.

"How is it daddy? I worked hard to prepare a surprise, " Niko said causing Nate to look at her shocked.

"Wait Niko you did it? " Nate asked.

"Yeah, after all, I need you to learn a lesson, "

"Lesson? "

"A king only takes one step so to keep the game going and because he doesn't need to work like pawns, "

At Nikos's warning gaze, he remembered how he might have died if he didn't have a backup. He sighed and gently hugged his daughter. One thing he learned is that his daughter's words always mean something. Nicolas realizing the situation had calmed down left. Only then did Nate realize he came to make sure his sister was safe. Nate felt sad.

I would never hurt my child. I may be a monster but not to my children. Never.

He felt his daughter patting his back which soothed him. He felt grateful to have her.

"It's okay Dad. You are safe, " Niko whispered. "I am here. "

"Thanks, kiddo, " Nate muttered.

"Next time whole residence will turn pink, "

Nate groaned not liking her cheerful tone or commitment.

"One day you will turn me pink too, " Nate said.

"Sounds good Daddy, " Niko replies.

My daughter is trouble but better than her becoming me. A ruthless monster.

Only if Nate knows who he is dealing with and what his daughter is capable of.
