4. Preety nasty

The man stopped as their gaze landed on me. I shot them a glare, ignoring the hateful look Ryker was giving me. If looks could kill, I would be dead.

"What is the meaning of this? He is a guest." I asked, my anger rising.

"Romano killed our leader. He killed your parents." He said.

"Grandfather made a deal with them, and you don't defy the boss. Are you out of your mind?"

"Why are you taking his side over us? Have you already spread your legs for him?"

That's it. Before I can do something, Ryker punches him in the face, making him fall on the floor. The man was knocked out cold. Anger is visible on his face.

"That's how you talk to your boss's granddaughter." Ryker scowled.

I approached them before things got out of hand. Ryker glared at me. I focus on the men.

"Get lost and inform Grandpa about this incident. I am sure he will love to hear what you guys said to me and the way you hurt Romano." I ordered them coldly.

Ryker turned around and walked out of the place without glancing at me. With a groan, I followed him. Ryker didn't wait for me and slammed his door shut, starting the car. I got in quickly. He started driving away, his body tense. Worry washed over me, seeing his lips bleeding. Grandfather will kill me.

"I am sorry, Romano. It wasn't my intention." I said to him.

"I think you made your intentions pretty clear there." He said it with a bitter tone.

"I didn't know they would attack you in my presence. Forgive me, I underestimated them."

"They could have fucking killed me if they wanted."

"It was my fault."

"Yes, it was. I don't want to see them again, or else I won't be responsible for their deaths."

I signed out loud but closed my mouth when Ryker shot me another glare.

There is no point in fighting with him. I need to tell Grandfather and get rid of those people. Second, I need to make up with Ryker because I don't want to cause a war for such reasons.

Pulling the car in front of the house, Ryker got out and walked in without waiting for me. I followed him, grabbing the first-aid kit on the way. He almost closed the door, but I used my foot to prevent him from closing it off. Which was idiotic. He slammed it on my foot, causing me to wince. Ryker realized what he had done and opened the door, glaring at my foot.

"Are you crazy?" He asked, annoyed.

Ignoring the pain, I smiled up at him, showing him first aid. He looks more hurt than me anyway.

"Here, use it," I said, showing him the first aid kit. "Are you injured badly?" I asked when he didn't reply.

For a minute, he stared at me without blinking his eyes.

Finally, he sighed and let me in. I placed the first aid box on the bed, deciding to leave it there, but my gaze landed on the red strain on his white t-shirt, causing me to glance up at him. He raised his eyebrows in confusion.

"Romano, your T-shirt has strain. Are you injured badly?" I ask again. He glanced down at his T-shirt and clenched his fist in anger.

"It's nothing bad. You can leave." He said turning away from me.

"Let me see," I insist.

"Careful, I will get the wrong idea." He smirked, turning around to take a look at me.

His grey eyes flickered with an amused expression that was gone in seconds.

"Fine. Just apply medicine." I said and left the room. No need to give him the wrong idea. But I am still worried.

Getting back in my room, I threw my bag away and removed my shoes, checking out my foot. Thankfully, it's alright other than the redness on the skin. Changing my clothes, I decided to get some food. On my way, I paused at the room where Ryker was staying. He must be hungry too. I entered the room to check on his injury and to ask him about food.

He is standing in front of the mirror without his T-shirt on. My breath hitched when my gaze landed on his muscular wide back while he was trying to wrap a bandage around his wound on the stomach, which looked pretty nasty. His eyes meet mine through the mirror. I noticed his wince as he accidentally tugged the bandage tightly.

"Romano, you didn't say anything when I asked you," I said, approaching him as fast as I could.

"I am fine, Rhodes. Leave me alone." He said it with his jaw clenched.

"This wound is fatal; it can get infected if you don't show it to the doctor."

"You don't have to care about me. I can take care of myself."

"Yes, I can see it."

"Rhodes." He warned.

"Romano, please let me help in case you don't want to see a doctor," I said with a firm tone.

"Rhodes, I am fine." He said it again, but this time his voice was strained.

Clutching his head, he sat on the bed. Oh no. I quickly gave him water, which he denied. After a while, he took a deep breath, pain evident on his face even though he did his best to hide it. If he dies here, then things will get worse.

"Romano, I am going to take care of your wound," I said softly. He nods slowly.

Taking the first aid kit, I cleaned his wound. He took a ragged breath as I rubbed a cotton ball on his wound. It looks like someone stabbed him, and the man he fought with in my gym won't carry weapons in there, so he got injured before coming here. It makes me relieved, but still, we will be blamed if he dies. I don't want him to die.

Ryker's hands grabbed my waist, making me pause, his fingers digging into my skin. When he didn't remove them, I proceeded to wrap the wound with a bandage. Once I was done, I lifted his chin and proceeded to treat his lip. Ryker's eyes flew open, and he stared into my eyes. I got distracted as I stared at his pretty eyes. Ryker was the first to realize the way we stood inches away from each other with very intense eye contact. He pulled his hands away, pushing me away softly. I backed away and cleared my throat.

"It's done; take a rest. I will send the doctor." I told him. His gaze snapped back to mine.

"I don't need a doctor." He said.

"Let me. I want to make sure you are okay."

"Because if I die, then there will be war between our families. You don't need to." Ryker said with bitterness evident in this tone.

"Romano I don't want you to die, not because of a family war. I wouldn't want my fiancé to die even before I break the engagement off." I told him.

Honestly, his death won't do any good to me. Ryker stares at me with a blank face, trying to detect lies in me. Getting none, he looked away. Breaking engagement is my priority, but there is a part of me that thinks it will work. Oh no.

"I am sending a doctor. Let them look at you." I said softly, walking out of the room.

Calling the doctor, I made my way into the kitchen, finding Dani alone cooking food. The smell hit me, making my mouth water. Dani glanced back at me with a small smirk.

"Welcome Princess. It's your time to eat." He joked.

"Thank Dani. So can I get the food?" I ask him hopefully.

"No, prepare your food if you are hungry."

"Dani," I said with my best innocent voice.

"You are not getting anything out of me."

"Come on."

I grabbed an apple and leftover pizza from the fridge. After making a salad, I walked back to Ryker's room. The doctor is already done with him. He gave me medicine and explained to me when he was supposed to eat.

"The wound was healed, but it opened. He will be fine soon, no worries." Doctor explained.

Once he left, I grinned at Ryker, who was fast asleep. I sat beside him after covering him with the blanket. He looks so innocent while asleep, unlike when he is up with those fake faces. I don't mind, but his intentions aren't clear yet.

I need more time to decide how to deal with the guy lying on the bed. The worst option but it is better than trusting him.
